Andy Ruiz Jr. (20-0, 14 KO’s) knocked off fellow undefeated heavyweight Joe Hanks (21-1, 14 KO’s) in July 27 action at the Cotai Arena in Macao to claim the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Belt. “The Destroyer” Ruiz dropped “The Future” Hanks twice in the 4th round, in route to a merciful stoppage at the 1:41 mark of the round.
With the victory, the 23 year old Mexican Ruiz ends the hype surrounding the 30 year old Hanks as the New Jersey native lost for the first time in a professional career that spans back to 2007.
